In 1973 the North Shore Soccer Club was founded because two boys teams in Glen Head wanted to play soccer in the indoor tournaments of the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
The teams, coached by Bob Conlin and Niel Capobianco, lived in the North Shore School district and the parents wanted to create a club in this area, independent from the Glen Cove Soccer Club. So the North Shore Soccer Club was created. In 1975 John Bock, William Grimes and Norman Ross officially incorporated the club.
With the help of the parents, the club has added other travel teams, an intramural program, a special children’s program, and a men’s program. Our teams have gone to outdoor tournaments, out- of-state tournaments. We host and play at indoor tournaments, sponsor summer camps for young players and our special children’s team has played in local tournaments and Special Olympics events.
In the past 28 years, the club has expended from 2 travel teams to as many as 17 travel teams. We currently have 10 teams playing in the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
We have 800+ players in our pre-k thru sixth grade intramural program. We have become an influential part of the community and our players are the cores of the school soccer teams.
